Captain Terry tells Chelsea to 'splash the cash'

Chelsea captain John Terry has said the Blues must spend again on new players during the close season if they are to regain the Premier League title from Manchester United.

The Blues 2-1 defeat by United last weekend left Sir Alex Ferguson's side needing just one point from their final two games to scure a record 19th English title.

Chelsea, bankrolled by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, spent £50 million signing striker Fernando Torres from Liverpool and £25m on centre-back David Luiz during the January transfer window.

But the London club, who won the domestic double last season under Carlo Ancelotti, are set to end this campaign without a trophy after losing in the FA Cup to Everton and being knocked out of the Champions League by United.
